>>SATURDAY 3rd DECEMBER NORMAN ENFIELD - MYSTERY SOLVED? UPDATE plus THE PUZO SCRIPT Additional script material by Norman Enfield in the STM end creditS - who was he? What material did he write? I don't know what he wrote but some thought it was a pseudonym for Lester, well...the mystery has been solved. Norman is NOT a pseudonym. The Ilya website has posted a still of Norman in conversation with Dick Donner at the premiere in Washington:
UPDATE: The lovely Katy from the Ilya Salkind Company responded to my queestion - who is Norman? Here's her response. Norman Enfield was involved in discussions with Ilya, Guy Hamilton, and others on the Puzo script. We are promised more on this subject from Ilya during the run-up to Superman Returns. Some of you guys have been asking about Puzo's original draft; where can you download it? Well, it's under lock and key until further notice. I hope that Ilya will release it because it will answer so many questions which are on the tip of our tongues for many years. I do remember David Newman telling me that Lois was a weather girl! I don't underestimate David's contribution to the Superman saga, the impression I got was that Puzo's scripts were dry. The Newmans opened it up, let it breathe. Mankiewicz, renowned for good dialogue, added the zip and polished the edges, adding verisimilitude and importance.
>>SATURDAY 3rd DECEMBER TOTAL FILM ON DONNER'S SUPERMAN II When this website gets mentioned in the press, especially a popular a mag like Total Film, the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Quite amazing what we have achieved, as a collective we've done the impossible. Here's a Permve with the details: I have just bought the new issue of Total Film.
It is a special issue edited by PETER JACKSON. Anyway there is a full
page dedicated to Superman II Special Edition Donner CUT. P126 It actually
has a photo of Chris Reeve and ZOD standing on the car from the Fight
Scene.
>>SATURDAY 3rd DECEMBER DVD NEWS Not a lot I can say at the moment. Margot Kidder has been interviewed. Gene Hackman might be difficult but he might do it because it's Donner! How can you turn down Donner anyway? There will be discussions on the Superman 2 politics but I don't believe for one minute that we'll ever the know the truth. It's a case of reading between the lines, it's always has been. I've watched the Batman Special Edition DVD; can't believe the film is poor; seriously, the dialogue and plotting is completely boring. I don't remember it being like this. Batman Begins is on another plane, leagues ahead in direction, plotting and characterization. Anyway, what concerns me is that the company who produced the documentaries on the Batman SE don't seem to have the passion for the material. Watch the Top Gun documentary, it's an awful film but the documentary is so fascinating, I wanted to know why the film sucked gonads and all my questions were answered - I was completely entralled by Charles (DVD Producer) work on that DVD. Batman on the other hand skipped over a lot, I could sense a lack of passion; felt like a product being churned out by robots with no love and attention. Tom Mankiewicz's interview was appalling!!! No details on his Batman script - why? NWE are doing the new Superman documentaries - I have a bad feeling that they will suck because of a lack of research.
