UK magazine, Dreamwatch has a piece on the RIC and more importantly, the article mentions that Richard Donner has been hired to work on the Superman 2 disc. Is this true? Yes, absolutely. Don't get too excited, folks, it's still early days and anything can happen.

SUPERGIRL IN THE BOX

At first I dismissed it as a clerical error and forgot about it. A few days later I received a couple of emails which stated that the video rights to Supergirl have been bought by Warner Bros. for inclusion in the new Superman DVD boxset. So, it looks likely that Supergirl will be in the set. No word on extras but I hope the Anchor Bay supplements are carried over.

LATEST ON THE SUPERMAN DVDS

Warner Bros. are using New Wave to produce new retrospective documentaries on all four films. I've let Warner Bros. know that there's plenty of Superman IV material out there. If they don't produce the long cut of Superman IV on DVD this time around then I don't think they'll ever do it.

JAMES CHRISTIE'S DONNER BIOGRAPHY

James Christie's website has gone live, click here. There will be plenty of new anecdotes on The Omen, Superman and The Goonies. Expect the book to hit shelves in the first half of next year.

ILYA SALKIND GALLERY UPDATE

A bunch of new, 'behind the scenes' and filmpremiere photos have appeared on the Ilya Salkind website! All featuring happy faces with Ilya. Some I've never seen before. There's one of David Petrou in Ilya's Pinewood office (where is he? I need to contact him!), one with Mankiewicz and one with Dick Donner at the premiere in Washington. What surprised me was the Donner photo, both Ilya and Donner posing with happy faces. :D Thanks to people at the Ilya Salkind company for posting them.

THE DVD SEs

Hello folks, it's been awhile since I updated you last on the status of the DVDs. I have no details on whether Donner will be involved, it's all hush-hush. From what I've gathered, Michael Thau is working on this.

Something does concern me, the looped lines audio track was not found by Michael Thau during the production of the STM DVD, I have a sinking feeling that the Superman 2 looped lines for Marlon Brando might be lost and they'll have to:

a) Get someone to mimic Marlon.
or
b) Use the production sound which will feature background noise.

I have no details on the long cut of Superman IV making it on to the DVD; I really hope they do something with that footage. I really want closure to all of this.
