EXTRA FOOTAGE

SUPERMAN IV's test screening was conducted in Orange County, California. The complete cut was shown, totalling to over 2 hours. The test screening proved to be disastrous, so major cuts were called for, and a lot of important sequences were left on the cutting room floor. Superman IV was whittled down to a mere 89 minutes, the film was a failure at the box-office.

The complete version would fill in some major plot holes, for example - What happened to Jeremy after he met Superman at the World Leader's summit? The first Nuclear Man (Notice that Lex isn't as surprised when Nuclear Man 2 appears), All the answers lie in the complete edition.

When the TV edition appeared, 2 Extra scenes were added to the Nuclear Man battle, they are:

Superman saves Moscow from a nuclear bomb, which Nuclear Man ignited.
A girl is saved by Superman during a tornado created by Nuclear Man.

The TV version's running time is 92 minutes, about 3 minutes longer than the theatrical cut.

The next few pages detail all the cut footage and where they appear in the final version. Included are some rare stills from the long cut and scans from the comic book adaptation.

PLEASE NOTE: I do not have the 134min version. The master doesn't exist according to sources who worked on the film, so it's unlikely that we'll ever see it.

Thanks to Mark Leneker for his help.
