Earlier this year [2001] I had the priviledge to meet up with Superman Cinema message board members - Martin El, Steve1977, Ye5man and The Man in Central Milton Keynes in England. It was in this young, British new-town that over half of Superman IV: The Quest For Peace was filmed. After a mind-numbing three hour train journey the pay-off better be good, right? Correct. With thoughts flowing through my mind of the ever approaching DVD release, the possibility of an ALL-DONNER Superman 2 and the climatic three paragraphs of 'Richard Donner: Metteur en Scene', what better way to break the chain of thought than the following sight of all sights- As I gazed hopelessly at the chud-stained seams of the train's carriage window, the corner of my eye witnessed the unprompted entrance of one very familiar blue hue. Whoa. NO WAY. Did the train have any respect, did it not recognise its arrival at the ultimate Superman IV Mecca? As I secured my exit from the hurried Birmingham New Street to Kings Cross, I needed to be on the other side of that five-storey, mirrored train station........As I made my way to the station's main entrance, I was worried when spotting a barrier point for ticket inspection - more concerned I noticed that the girl before me had failed to make it past. Greeted with that type of Bucks accent that is only angering to Brits from the North, the British Rail guard informed me that in order to pass the barrier I must display my ticket. Hmm, a 'tickets only' Superman affair? I thought it was quite elite- I guess they must see this place as a sort of 'Milton Keynes SIV Cathedral'..... Why did WB choose San Antonio?...
