It all started back in September 96 at college - I search for Superman movies and to my surprise I found Gregory Oshel's website. After reading through it, I was amazed by the trivia. I didn't know that 45 minutes of footage was cut from the first film. I also didn't know that footage was cut from the other flicks, too. I was hooked on that site, I spent a lot of time going through it week after week. Greg's site was the only website dedicated to the four films, he and the site disappeared in late 97. I'm sure he's still around somewhere...

Then in January 97, Superman was shown on TV here in England, I rediscovered the magic. This is the first film I fell in love with.

So, I decided in February 97, I would create a webpage which would pay homage to the Superman films even though the last two are not fantastic. In March the website was coming together, at this stage I was still experimenting. It was in early April the website was available on the Internet, I spent the first month advertising the site everywhere, sending e-mails to as many people as possible. The site at that time was called Superman in the Movies. Over the early months I played around with the look of the site, I was, and probably never will be happy with the look, I suppose I aim to be a perfectionist. Bill Williams, Dsl1999 and Hiphats started to contribute quite a bit over my initial months. To this day I have maintained that this site is a team effort and I have always given the credit where it is due.
Early spring my audience was small, but there were a few fans who just loved what I had done, even though I hated the look of my site, I thank them for sticking by me.

The new Superman movie production help to promote this website over the summer of 1997:

I wanted to be able to get all the movie info first. So in late August I started to get exclusive tidbits and around this time I found out about Dark Horizons and forged a friendship with Garth and also made friends with a number of spies who are in top jobs. I don't want to say too much about them, but I can't thank them enough.

In late September these spies sent me a lot of info which would attract a lot of people to the site and also alert Warner Bros. I printed some production information which caused WB to tighten up their security. At first no one believed this production information, remember at this time my audience was still small. After I printed the info, the next day Dark Horizons which had a big following printed it and the site was given the credit and that's where I really picked up, my audience doubled. Ever since then WB have been keeping a close eye on the site.

The spies delivered again in early November 97with a massive scoop for the site. The unveiling of the NEW Superman logo, which at the time was the one to be used. It wasn't long after that I got more scoops including the Superman project going on hiatus which took a while for WB to announce, I already did so 2 weeks prior. Besides all the new Superman movie stuff, I was involved in many campaigns to get Superman The Movie restored and released in theatres. I will go as far as saying we didn't get the campaign letters to the right people.

Surely one of the coolest things to happen:

Fast forward to August 98, Richard Donner was interviewed during his European promotion of Lethal Weapon 4 and Superman was discussed. He wanted to direct the new film and also wanted to re-release the original film (Donner was now aware of the campaign). In September, his assistant contacted me and we started yet another campaign to get the film in theatres and DVD. Richard Donner has visited the site and was very flattered by our work. Also, Sarah Douglas contacted me with the help of Jacob (fan) and she has been complimentary of the fans and their support.

David Newman (screenwriter on the first 3 films) visited in October 1999. I guess it was around this time that a guy called Ahem wrote to me about the technical stuff about the Superman films. From then on, we forged a good friendship, and Tim is now an important part of my website. He helped me give this place a new direction for the 21st Century. I'm glad he's writing exclusively for us on the Superman pictures.

Jack O'Halloran is active on the web, he has visited the site and spilled some interesting details on Superman and Superman 2.

Post DVD, Greg Rossiter was thinking of creating his own website on the films, I offered him a chance to come here and contribute instead. Greg is now the asisstant.

As I write this, my website has changed considerably, the design, the content and overall presentation has become much richer. The content on the site is quite incredible and I haven't even got near to completing it. This site is huge now, there are 150 pages of information. To quote Donner in 78 "It's my baby" With 1200 fans visiting daily, Superman CINEMA has probably become the most visited Superman pages on the internet.

It's funny, I've never actually talked to Richard Donner about Superman. Maybe, one day...
